During September 2022, the German Medical Center for Quality in Medicine (Ärztliches Zentrum für Qualität in der Medizin) published new national care guidelines for unipolar depression treatment in Germany, with an increased recommendation for repetitive magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in the case of therapy resistance. Based on the new guidelines, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) should be offered to patients with treatment-resistant depressive episodes.
